Mt. Semeru


Located within the same national park as the famous Mount Bromo. Semeru, or Mount Semeru (Indonesian: Gunung Semeru), is an active volcano located in East Java, Indonesia. With its elevation at 3,676 m a.s.l, it is the highest mountain on the island of Java. This stratovolcano is also known as Mahameru, meaning ‘The Great Mountain.

Ranu Kumbolo

Ranu Kumbolo is a mountainous lake located in Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, East Java, Indonesia.


At 2,700 m a.s.l, Kalimati is a large field of green grass, the last post before hitting the summit of Mahameru.


DAY 1: Surabaya – Ranu Kumbolo (L, D)

09.30-10.00 : Pick up at Surabaya Airport
10.00-12.00 : Tumpang – Ranu Pani (by jeep)
12.00-13.00 : Briefing at Ranu Pani Resort
13.00-14.00 : Getting ready for hiking – pack and have lunch at Ranu Pani
14.00-19.00 : Ranu Pani – Ranu Kumbolo, camp and rest. Dinner.

DAY 2: Ranu Kumbolo – Kali Mati – Summit (B, L, D)

05.00-08.00 : Sunrise at Ranu Kumbolo. Explore Ranu Kumbolo,  breakfast
08.00-09.00 : Getting ready to continue to trek, packing
09.00-12.00 : Ranu Kumbolo – Kali Mati
12.00-13.00 : Lunch, rest and camp at Kali Mati
13.00-18.00: Explore Kali Mati
18.00-19.00 : Dinner
19.00-23.00 : Rest
23.00-24.00 : Getting ready for summit attack; Light snack

DAY 3: Kali Mati – Ranu Kumbolo (B, L, D) 

00.00-06.00 : Hiking to summit
06.00-07.00: Sunrise; breakfast on summit
07.00-10.00: Descending back to the base camp at Kali Mati
10.00-12.00: Packing and lunch
12.00-15.00: On the way to Kali Mati – Ranu Kumbolo – Sunset and recovery at Ranu Kumbolo
15.00-18.00: Relax, explore Ranu Kumbolo
18.00-19.00: Dinner and rest

DAY 4: Ranu Kumbolo – Ranu Pani – Tumpang (B, L)

06.00-08.00: Sunrise at Ranu Kumbolo
08.00-09.00: Breakfast and packing
10.00-13.00: Ranu Kumbolo – Ranu Pani
13.00-14.00: Lunch at Ranu Pani
14.00-16.00: Ranu Pani – Tumpang (by jeep)
16.00-17.00: Tumpang – Surabaya
17.00: Surabaya, check-in hotel and rest

DAY 5: Surabaya (B)

Breakfast and free time until time to go to the airport.
